Artist Biography
Alanah Sarginson (b. 2000, Cambridge) is a self-taught digital illustrator based in London and Hertfordshire, whose work captures a harmonious blend of minimalism and expressiveness.
Drawing on personal routines and symbolic portals — doors, windows, and staircases — her art navigates themes of subjectivity and the search for peace amidst life’s confusion. Architectural elements and shifting forms like water are prominent, guiding viewers through a meditative journey of time and space. Her stylistic influences range from the bold simplicity of tattoo art, which sparked her love of black-and-white illustration, to post-internet artists and contemporary illustrators like Manjitt Thapp and George Greaves.
Alanah’s editorial work has appeared in The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, and The Atlantic, and she has had her own artist feature in It’s Nice That. With her prints sold at the online gallery Terra Cotta Prints and with exhibitions across London, Alanah is part of a new wave of digital artists, skillfully balancing multiple creative pursuits alongside her professional career.
