During my collaboration with GoCardless, a leading fintech company specializing in automating recurring payments, I had the opportunity to contribute to their rebranding efforts by creating 30 illustrations for their new website.
GoCardless, founded in 2011 and headquartered in London, aims to simplify payment collection for businesses of all sizes. Their global platform caters to various industries, including subscription-based businesses, SaaS providers, e-commerce platforms, and more. With a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and user-friendliness, GoCardless has established itself as a trusted provider of recurring payment solutions worldwide.
The objectives of the illustration project were twofold. Firstly, the illustrations were meant to effectively convey key messages to both existing customers and potential clients visiting the website. Secondly, they played a crucial role in enhancing the overall visual appeal of the site.
As part of GoCardless' rebranding journey, the company shifted away from its traditional fintech branding, characterized by dark blues and a serious tone. They embraced a bright, modern, and aspirational brand identity. This reimagined identity featured a new color scheme with vibrant hues, bold typography, and a design aesthetic that spoke to innovation and new possibilities. My illustrations contributed to this rebranding by incorporating bold yet simplistic and surreal elements that aligned with GoCardless' vision of pioneering a new era of banking.

In terms of style, I drew inspiration from my previous work on tattoo sheet illustrations. Utilizing ink bleed techniques and filling the illustrations with colors from GoCardless' new palette, I achieved a dynamic effect by slightly shifting the fills beyond the lines.
Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with GoCardless' design and branding departments. By maintaining open communication and exchanging feedback, we ensured that the illustrations seamlessly aligned with the brand's vision and requirements. I shared pencil sketches for review before finalizing the illustrations with vibrant colors.
The resulting illustrations are prominently integrated across GoCardless' website, effectively visualizing the benefits of using their services. They contribute to creating an engaging user experience and highlighting the unique value proposition of GoCardless as a leader in the industry of recurring payments.
